I spent some years of my life totally dedicated to the master’s degree! Until June 26, 2016, I became a master! After 3 years of endless articles, rewritten paragraphs, meetings and more meetings (and immense pride as well) I would finally have time to watch movies and read novels with happy endings! and I promised that for a one year I would dedicate myself to this artistic update…
One of the movies that I liked the most was Maleficent and I learned from it 3 interesting lessons about to get a good job, and I want to share with the beginner developers what I learned. Although the movie is old, I will not spoiler …
Lesson 1- Don’t believe in promises!
If you are offered very high salaries, monthly promotions, leadership in various projects … Take care! You are a beginner developer who is starting a career and will conquer your space step by step. Don’t believe who promises you things that are almost impossible!
Lesson 2 – You have to adapt !!!
Not everything will be easy, not everything will be exactly as you planned, not always you will do easy or funny tasks … Sometimes you will change teams, or people you like very much will not be close to you… And in this hour reinvent yourself !!! See what you are learning from the boring tasks, get to know your new team, study more … Anyway … To reach your goal you will need to adapt to the new situations that the follow for the dream job will expose you.
Lesson 3 – Take your mistakes
Never, under no circumstances hide your mistakes! To err doesn’t make you a bad professional … Hiding your mistakes makes you a person without character … So if something didn’t go as you expected … Ask for help! You are starting your career and making mistakes is part of learning.
Ahhh I need to confess that my promise to only read novels and fantasy books was broken in the first week…
If you liked, share this post! And if do you have any questions talk to me!
